The Rubinoos

The Rubinoos are a power pop band from Berkeley, California, that first emerged in the 1970s. Known for their infectious hooks and harmonies, they gained a cult following with their self-titled 1977 debut album, which included a cover of Tommy James & the Shondells’ "I Think We’re Alone Now." Their blend of bubblegum pop, new wave energy, and classic rock 'n' roll spirit helped define a sound that was both nostalgic and fresh at the time.

The band was co-founded by Jon Rubin (vocals) and Tommy Dunbar (guitar/songwriting), and over the decades, The Rubinoos have built a reputation as power pop stalwarts, influencing generations of pop-rock artists. They've continued to perform and record into the 21st century, releasing albums like From Home and The CBS Tapes, and maintaining a strong fan base, especially in Japan and Europe. Their melodic charm and spirited live performances have helped keep their legacy alive well beyond their early charting days.
