Tim Barnes is an accomplished percussionist, sound artist, and composer based in Louisville, Kentucky. He is known for his expansive experimental percussion work as well as collaborations with a wide array of influential musicians and bands such as Jim O’Rourke, Wilco, Sonic Youth, Silver Jews, and Tony Conrad. His career spans decades, beginning in the late 1980s, and encompasses roles as a drummer, sound designer, and producer. Barnes has a deep involvement in both the indie rock and experimental music scenes, performing at prestigious venues like the Guggenheim and Whitney museums. He also runs the Quakebasket label, noted for archival releases including work by original Velvet Underground drummer Angus MacLise. His solo and collaborative projects often explore innovative approaches to sound and rhythm, with recent work like his album *DEΔD-LOOP* reimagining house music structures in experimental ways.
In addition to his music performance and production, Tim Barnes is the Artistic Director of DREAMLAND, an experimental performance space in Louisville.
