Little May is an indie folk band hailing from Sydney, Australia, formed in 2012. The group initially consisted of lead vocalist and guitarist Liz Drummond, vocalist and guitarist Hannah Field, and guitarist and keyboardist Annie Hamilton, with Hamilton departing the band in 2017. They are known for their intricate harmonies, evocative lyrics, and a blend of acoustic and electronic elements that define their unique sound. Little May quickly garnered attention with their self-titled debut EP in 2014, which featured the haunting track "Boardwalks". Their music captures the raw honesty of folk storytelling, delivered with a contemporary edge.
Rising to prominence with their atmospheric and moody vibes, Little May released their first full-length album, "For The Company," in 2015, to critical acclaim. It was produced by Aaron Dessner of The National, which helped cement their status within the indie music scene. The band continued to evolve musically and in 2019, they returned with the album "Blame My Body," which marked a shift towards a bolder, more assertive sound that embraced pop and rock influences while still showcasing their signature lyrical depth. Although Little May's music remains under the radar to a degree, their heartfelt and introspective songs have continued to resonate with a dedicated fanbase around the globe.
