Justin Hinds & The Dominoes

Justin Hinds & The Dominoes were a foundational group in the development of Jamaican ska and rocksteady music during the 1960s. Fronted by Justin Hinds—with backing vocalists Dennis Sinclair and Junior Dixon—the group made a huge impact with their 1963 debut single “Carry Go Bring Come,” which became a massive hit in Jamaica. Their music, often recorded at legendary studios like Treasure Isle with producer Duke Reid, combined gospel-tinged vocals with the upbeat rhythms of ska and later the slower, more soulful feel of rocksteady.

Justin Hinds was known for his smooth vocal delivery and spiritually conscious lyrics, which helped set him apart from other artists of the era. The Dominoes remained active into the 1970s, recording numerous singles that are now considered classics. Hinds later pursued a solo career, but the group’s early recordings remain essential listening for fans of vintage Jamaican music.
