Vaults was a British electronic pop band, known for their atmospheric and emotive style, combining haunting melodies with an anthemic electronic soundscape. Formed in London in 2013, the band was comprised of lead vocalist Blythe Pepino, alongside instrumentalists Barney Freeman and Ben Vella. They steadily gained recognition with their captivating sound, characterized by Pepino's ethereal vocal delivery and the group's cinematic production.
Vaults drew widespread acclaim with tracks such as "Premonitions" and "Lifespan," both singles earning them a fervent online following and critical praise. They further solidified their presence in the industry with the release of the "Vultures" EP which propelled them into the public consciousness. However, it was their stunning cover of Randy Crawford's "One Day I'll Fly Away," which was featured in the high-profile 2016 John Lewis Christmas advert, that catapulted Vaults into mainstream success. "Caught In Still Life," their only full-length album, contained poignant lyrics wrapped in lush, immersive soundscapes, showcasing their distinctive blend of brooding electronica and pop sensibilities. Despite their short-lived career—they disbanded in 2017—their music continues to resonate with fans, and their remix compilations, including "Hurricane (Remixes)" and "Midnight River (Remixes)," attest to their enduring influence on the electronic music scene.
