Alegre All Stars

The Alegre All Stars are an emblem of Latin jazz and salsa, with their roots deeply embedded in the vibrant music scene of New York City during the 1960s. Assembled by Al Santiago, the visionary owner of the Alegre Records label, the group was initially conceived as an all-star ensemble comprised of the finest musicians from various bands signed under the Alegre label. They collectively represented a powerhouse of talent that left an indelible mark on the development and global appreciation of Latin music.

Throughout their existence, the Alegre All Stars made it their mission to rejuvenate and innovate within the Afro-Cuban genre, pioneering what would become the Nuyorican sound—a blend of jazz sophistication and Cuban rhythm that would influence generations of musicians. Classics like "Perdido," from their album "Te Invita," exhibit the seamless fusion of intricate jazz harmonies and infectious salsa grooves that the group became famous for. Even their more recent releases, such as "Lost And Found, Vol. 3" and "Way Out, Vol. 4," continue to showcase the group’s dedication to musical excellence, echoing their initial groundbreaking forays while sustaining their legendary status among aficionados of Latin jazz and salsa music.
