Rodrigo Amarante

Rodrigo Amarante is a multifaceted Brazilian musician and songwriter, whose global recognition surged particularly for his work on the theme song "Tuyo" for the Netflix series Narcos. Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1976, Amarante's musical journey is marked by his adeptness in blending a wide array of musical styles, from samba and bossa nova to rock and folk. Before embarking on a successful solo career, he was a part of the Brazilian rock band Los Hermanos, the samba supergroup Orquestra Imperial, and Little Joy—a group he formed with Fabrizio Moretti of The Strokes and Binki Shapiro.

Following the disbandment of Los Hermanos in 2007, Amarante's solo career took off with the release of "Cavalo" in 2014, receiving critical acclaim in Brazil and internationally. Rodrigo Amarante's music, characterized by its lyrical depth and eclectic sounds, transcends language barriers, making him a respected figure in the international music scene. His most recent works, including "Drama," "Tango," and "Maré," showcase his evolving artistry and continued exploration of themes related to identity, memory, and longing, further establishing Amarante as a significant musical voice of his generation.
