Hetty Blok

Henriëtte Adriana "Hetty" Blok (1920–2012) was a beloved Dutch cabaret artist, actress, and singer best known for her iconic role as Zuster Klivia in the classic Dutch television series *Ja zuster, nee zuster*, created by Annie M.G. Schmidt. Born in Arnhem, she discovered her passion for performance as a teenager and went on to build a rich career on stage, radio, and TV that spanned from the mid-1940s until her retirement in the early 2000s. Hetty was celebrated for her warm, quirky presence and her ability to bring beloved characters to life, often accompanied by songs written by Schmidt. Even well into her later years, she toured with solo shows featuring Schmidt's work and remained a cherished figure in Dutch cabaret and theatre.

Throughout her career, Hetty Blok became a fixture of Dutch entertainment, not only acting but also mentoring new generations of performers. She made guest appearances on radio and television, notably singing the theme from *Ja zuster, nee zuster* on *De Wereld Draait Door* in 2010. Her contributions to Dutch culture have left a lasting legacy, especially through her heartfelt interpretations of Annie M.G. Schmidt’s songs and stories. Hetty passed away in Amsterdam at the age of 92, leaving behind a rich artistic heritage treasured by many in the Netherlands.
