Yalla Miku

Yalla Miku is a vibrant and genre-defying music collective based in Geneva, founded by Beirut-born Cyril Yeterian (banjo, electric guitar, vocals) and his Cyril Cyril duo bandmate Cyril Bondi (drums, vocals). The group brings together a diverse lineup including Swiss musicians Simone Aubert and Vincent Bertholet, alongside migrant artists from North and East Africa—Moroccan guembri player Anouar Baouna, Eritrean krar player Samuel Ades, and Algerian darbouka player Ali Bouchaki. This fusion creates a powerful mix of Moroccan gnawa, Eritrean storytelling, Algerian rhythms, electronica, post-punk, and krautrock grooves, all performed with an uplifting, frenzied energy that challenges musical and cultural borders.

Their music reflects the real lived experiences of migration and cultural encounter, aiming to dissolve geographic and social boundaries while honoring each tradition’s unique voice. Yalla Miku’s 2023 self-titled debut and their 2025 follow-up album *2* showcase their distinctive sound—polyvocal, rhythmically rich, and politically charged, with lyrics in French, Arabic, and Tigrigna. Their work is a call for freedom of movement and cultural dialogue, rooted in Geneva’s underground scene and the community-led ethos of the Bongo Joe label.
