Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Revue, led by Appalachian-born Vanessa Niemann (aka Gal Holiday), are a vibrant force in New Orleans' country and Americana scene. Formed in 2004, the band quickly became known for their infectious blend of honky tonk, Western swing, and rockabilly, combining evocative songwriting with impeccable musicianship and a bit of punk attitude. Their lively shows appeal to dancers and country music fans alike, earning them multiple local awards and a strong fan base that stretches beyond New Orleans. Over the years, they've shared stages with legends like Willie Nelson and Lyle Lovett and have been regulars at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
Vanessa started the band after moving to New Orleans and wanting to perform more regularly, inspired by a predominately jazz-heavy local scene to carve out a unique space for country music. The band weathered challenges like Hurricane Katrina, evolving through it all while maintaining their high-energy, dance-hall vibe. Their notable albums, such as 2014’s *Last to Leave*, have received critical praise and chart placements on Americana and roots music lists. With a lineup of seasoned musicians, Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Revue continue to celebrate and expand New Orleans' musical diversity, championing honky tonk with passion and authenticity.
