The United States Army Band

The United States Army Band, known as "Pershing's Own," serves as the premier musical organization of the United States Army. Founded in 1922 by Army Chief of Staff General John J. Pershing, the band was established to emulate European military bands he had heard during World War I. With its home base at Fort Myer, Virginia, adjacent to Arlington National Cemetery, The United States Army Band has a mission to provide musical support to the leadership of the United States in both a national and international capacity.

This prestigious ensemble is renowned for its exceptional musicianship and versatility, performing at official Army functions, public concerts, and educational outreach events. Its performances serve to enhance the morale of service members, honor the bravery and sacrifice of the U.S. armed forces, and foster patriotism and the image of the U.S. Army both domestically and globally. The variety of their performances, from the illustrious Star Spangled Banner to the poignant Auld Lang Syne and the rousing Stars and Stripes Forever, embodies the band's commitment to excellence and its role as a custodian of America's musical heritage.
