René Roco is a Chilean electronic music producer, composer, and educator based in Santiago, Chile. Born in 1988, he is known for exploring the boundaries of contemporary electronic music, encompassing genres like IDM, techno, and ambient. Roco is the founder of Tensa Records, a label focused on producing local electronic artists. His work often incorporates polirhythmic compositions, rhythmic shifts, aleatory processes, and non-traditional structures, aiming to create unpredictable musical narratives. Roco has released music on various labels, including Panal Records, Modismo, Pueblo Nuevo, and Artificial Domain, showcasing a prolific discography with over 19 releases across LPs and EPs.
Roco's recent activities include performing at festivals like Creamfields in Chile and Micro Mutek, along with collaborations and releases through Tensa Records. His artistic approach is characterized by the use of contrast and sound disruption, which he continues to evolve through his ongoing creative endeavors. In 2021, he received the Premio Pulsar award for Best Electronic Artist.
