The Podlasie Philharmonic Orchestra

The Podlasie Philharmonic Orchestra, originally established in 1954 as the State Symphony Orchestra in Białystok, Poland, has grown into a prominent musical institution with deep roots in the region. In 1974, it gained the status of a state philharmonic and eventually became part of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic – the European Art Center in Białystok. The orchestra performs a diverse repertoire, including significant contemporary works such as Wojciech Kilar’s *Missa pro pace*, which was recorded live at the Podlasie Philharmonic concert hall under the baton of Miroslaw Jacek Blaszczyk.

The orchestra is known for its high artistic standards and active cultural engagement, often collaborating with the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic Choir and participating in notable music festivals. It has become a central figure in nurturing musical life in eastern Poland and supports extensive educational programs. Its home venue is recognized as the first professionally equipped opera and symphony hall in the region, marking its importance as a cultural landmark.
