Akercocke

Akercocke is a British extreme metal band known for their unique blend of progressive black and death metal, infused with elements of avant-garde and experimental sounds. Formed in London in 1997 by Jason Mendonca (vocals/guitar) and David Gray (drums), the band quickly became notorious for their sophisticated musicality wrapped in themes of occultism, Satanism, and religious critique, which were reflected in both their music and their provocative stage attire, often featuring suits juxtaposed with Satanic imagery.

After releasing their audacious debut "Rape of the Bastard Nazarene," Akercocke continued to forge their path with increasingly complex and daring records such as "The Goat of Mendes" (2001) and "Choronzon" (2003), helping to cement their status as luminaries in the extreme metal scene. Their discography showcases a fearless evolution, with albums like "Antichrist" (2007) and "Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That Go Undone" (2005) exploring darker, more atmospheric dimensions of their sound. Following a hiatus, the band returned triumphantly with "Renaissance in Extremis" in 2017, a profound and introspective work that maintained their signature blend of ferocity and finesse. The band's live prowess and dedication to their craft were further encapsulated in their most recent offering, "Decades of Devil Worship (Live)," serving as a testament to their enduring impact and the depth of their artistry.
