A Storm of Light

A Storm of Light is an American post-metal band with a sound that amalgamates the weight of doom and sludge metal with the sprawling atmospherics of post-rock. Founded in 2007 by guitarist and vocalist Josh Graham—also known for his visual artistry and his tenure with the influential post-metal group Neurosis—the band quickly established themselves in the heavy music scene for their cinematic, apocalyptic style and contemplative lyrical themes. With a lineup also comprising of Domenic Seita on bass and BJ Graves on drums, A Storm of Light solidified their distinct blend of oppressive heaviness and expansive ambiance.

A Storm of Light's discography is a testament to their evolving, multidimensional approach to songwriting and production. Starting with their haunting debut "And We Wept The Black Ocean Within" (2008), the band has consistently pushed the boundaries of the post-metal genre. Albums such as "As the Valley of Death Becomes Us, Our Silver Memories Fade" (2011) and "Nations to Flames" (2013) display their ability to weave narratives of environmental decay and human conflict into their relentless soundscapes. Their latest offering, "Anthroscene" (2018), reflects the band's ongoing preoccupation with the disruptive impacts of human activity on the planet, underscoring their commitment to addressing pressing global issues through the medium of their potent and expansive music.
