Sarah Rose Project is the bold solo venture of Sarah Rose, who you might know as the lead vocalist of Atlanta’s cabaret-punk favorites Sarah and the Safe Word. After years of making music with a full band, she decided to step out on her own, blending raucous jazz, rock and roll, and vintage Americana into a sound that’s both theatrical and deeply personal—think smoky jazz clubs, dramatic storytelling, and a healthy dose of punk spirit. Her self-titled debut album, released in June 2025, was recorded across Chicago, New York, and Atlanta, and features a rotating cast of local musicians on horns, strings, percussion, and even the occasional washboard, giving the whole record a rich, cinematic vibe.
If you’re a fan of Sarah’s work with Sarah and the Safe Word, you’ll still find plenty to love here—her signature theatricality and sense of drama shine through—but this project is all about embracing new influences and exploring what happens when she’s in the driver’s seat. Tracks like “Send Flowers” and “Sparrow County Line” (featuring Shayfer James) showcase her knack for vivid lyrics and genre-blurring arrangements, while cameos from artists like Ratwyfe and Taffeite add even more flavor to the mix. Sarah Rose Project is proof that sometimes, going solo isn’t about leaving your past behind—it’s about taking everything you’ve learned and turning it into something fresh, fun, and unmistakably you.
