Little Feat is an American rock band known for their eclectic blend of rock and roll, blues, R&B, boogie, country, folk, gospel, soul, funk, and jazz fusion elements. The band was formed in 1969 by singer-songwriter, guitarist Lowell George and his long-time friend, keyboardist Bill Payne. They were later joined by bassist Roy Estrada from Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention, drummer Richie Hayward, and, over time, a rotating cast of talented musicians.
Despite the tragic passing of Lowell George in 1979, Little Feat continued on and their influence and legacy have only grown. Their ability to incorporate a multitude of genres into a cohesive sound has endeared them to a wide fan base. Classics like "Dixie Chicken," "Willin'," and "Fat Man in the Bathtub" are emblematic of their unique musical style. Albums like "Let It Roll," "Representing the Mambo," and the live recordings like "Electrif Lycanthrope: Live at Ultra-Sonic Studios, 1974," showcase the band's dynamic performance abilities. The release of "Rad Gumbo: The Complete Warner Bros. Years 1971-1990" provided a comprehensive look at their influential recordings during this period. Over the years, Little Feat has proven resilient, innovative, and continuously passionate, evidenced by their 2012 album "Rooster Rag," which reflects their enduring spirit and musical vitality.
