Killing Joke

Killing Joke is an English post-punk band that thrust onto the music scene in 1979, originating from Notting Hill, London. Formed by Jaz Coleman (vocals, keyboards), Kevin "Geordie" Walker (guitar), Martin "Youth" Glover (bass), and Paul Ferguson (drums), the band is revered for their intense and unorthodox sound that blurs the lines between punk, industrial, gothic rock, and heavy metal. Killing Joke's music is characterized by tribal beats, pulsating basslines, and Geordie Walker's distinctive guitar work, all underscored by Coleman's apocalyptic and sometimes enigmatic lyrics and commanding presence.

Over the decades, the band has undergone several line-up changes and periods of hiatus, but the original members have periodically reunited to produce new work and tour. With a discography punctuated by evolution and experimentation, Killing Joke has influenced a broad array of artists across various genres, from Nirvana to Nine Inch Nails. Their most recent releases, such as "MMXII" and "Absolute Dissent," are a testament to their enduring ability to blend critique of political and social issues with a powerful and immersive sonic experience. Notable works like the "Nervous System EP" and "Lord Of Chaos” continue to showcase their penchant for evolving sounds while remaining a seminal force within the alt-rock and post-punk panorama. Live recordings like "Total Invasion (Live in the USA)" capture the band's raw energy and dynamic stage presence, which has galvanized fans for over four decades.
