James Andrews

James Andrews is a New Orleans-born trumpet player and singer who carries on the rich legacy of the city’s brass band and jazz traditions. Known as the “Satchmo of the Ghetto,” Andrews blends classic Crescent City sounds with modern funk and R&B influences, creating music that’s both steeped in tradition and full of energy. A member of a prominent musical family, he's the older brother of Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews, and the two have collaborated on several projects, bringing their dynamic chemistry to stages around the world.

With albums like Second Line for Fat's and Katrina New Orleans, Andrews showcases his love for New Orleans culture and pays homage to the music legends who paved the way before him. Whether he’s tearing it up on stage or leading a second line parade, James Andrews brings an infectious spirit and unmistakable groove that capture the heart of New Orleans music.
