**Pinehurst Kids** is a Portland, Oregon-based band, founded by singer-songwriter Joe Davis, who was born in Pinehurst, Idaho, a mining town with a troubled environmental history. The band's name reflects Davis's personal connection to Pinehurst, where children, including himself, suffered health issues due to environmental contamination. The group initially formed as a duo with Robler Kind and later expanded to include bassist Caleb Gates. They gained recognition with their energetic pop-rock sound, starting with their self-released debut album **Minnesota Hotel** in 1997. This album received a re-release through Four Alarm Records, leading to national exposure and critical acclaim. Subsequent albums like **Viewmaster** and **Bleed It Dry** further solidified their presence in the indie music scene, showcasing their evolving songwriting and sound.
