Ensemble Pro Victoria

Ensemble Pro Victoria is a vibrant early music group founded in 2015 at the University of Cambridge by Humphrey Thompson and Toby Ward. Known for their energetic and historically informed performances, they specialize in Iberian polyphony, pre-Reformation Tudor music, and early Baroque repertoire. The ensemble works closely with academic research, particularly the Tudor Partbooks project led by Professor Magnus Williamson, and has gained recognition for their authentic choirbook performance style and use of period instruments.

They have won the joint-first prize in the 2020 London International Festival of Early Music Young Ensemble Competition, leading to a recording contract with Delphian Records. Their debut professional album, featuring Tudor composer Robert Fayrfax, was critically acclaimed. The group has expanded for large-scale projects like Monteverdi's Vespers and Bach's Christmas Oratorio, performing at prestigious venues including King's College Chapel in Cambridge and Hampton Court Palace. Beyond their concert work, Ensemble Pro Victoria also founded the Harrogate Advent Festival to celebrate and support young singers and organists in northern England.
