Blueboy was a charming British indie pop band that bloomed in the 1990s as part of the iconic Sarah Records roster, known for their jangly guitars, bittersweet melodies, and poetic lyricism. Formed in Reading, England, the core duo of Keith Girdler (vocals) and Paul Stewart (guitar) crafted delicate, introspective tunes that balanced twee pop sweetness with subtle sophistication. Their releases, like the *Unisex* EP and *Bank of England* album, became cult favorites, blending wistful storytelling with a DIY ethos. They also earned indie cred with a 1994 John Peel Session, a rite of passage for ’90s UK bands. Though Blueboy disbanded in 1999, their music remains a touchstone for fans of fragile, heartfelt indie pop. Girdler later formed Another Sunny Day, another Sarah Records gem, before his passing in 2007.
