Das EFX

Das EFX is an American hip-hop duo that made a significant impact during the early 1990s with their distinctive and rapid-fire lyrical delivery, known for its intricate internal rhymes and nonsensical phrases, often referred to as "iggity" style. The duo consists of emcees Dray (also known as Krazy Drayzy) and Skoob (also known as Books), who first met at Virginia State University in 1988 and started performing together. They emerged from the wellspring of hip-hop's golden age with a unique sound that fused East Coast rap's gritty beats with a playful, tongue-twisting lyrical approach.

Das EFX released their debut album "Dead Serious" in 1992, which was an instant commercial and critical success, leading to a widespread influence on the hip-hop genre. Tracks like "They Want EFX" and "Mic Checka" resonated with audiences and established their place in hip-hop history. Throughout the 90s, the group maintained a steady output, delivering albums such as "Straight Up Sewaside," "Hold It Down," and "Generation EFX." Although their later work such as "How We Do" and "Old School Throwback" didn't capture the same level of acclaim as their earlier material, Das EFX has remained a respected name in the realm of hip-hop, particularly for their innovative style and contribution to the genre's evolution.
