Ashwin Srinivasan

Ashwin Srinivasan is a versatile Indian classical flautist, vocalist, composer, and music arranger/producer. Born into a family of musicians, he was introduced to Indian classical music at a young age and initially learned the sitar from his mother, who follows the Pandit Ravi Shankar style. However, he developed a fascination for the 'Bansuri' (Bamboo flute) at the age of seven. Ashwin has been trained by renowned flautists such as Venkatesh Godkhindi and Pundalik Shenoy, and he has also studied under the legendary violinist Dr. N Rajam in Mumbai. He is known for his collaborations across various genres, including Western Classical, Jazz, Fusion, Electronica, Bollywood, and Hollywood. Ashwin has worked with notable artists like Nitin Sawhney, Anoushka Shankar, Imogen Heap, and A.R. Rahman, and has contributed to films such as "The Namesake," "Amelia," and "Midnight’s Children."

Ashwin's musical journey spans both classical performances and session work, with a strong presence in Bollywood and international film scores. He has performed at prestigious festivals and has been part of A.R. Rahman's touring band. His work also includes music arrangements for albums by legendary singers like Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle. Ashwin continues to push the boundaries of Indian classical music by blending it with modern styles, creating a unique sound that appeals to a wide audience.
