Mestre Negoativo is a Cultural Activist and Researcher of Afro-Mineira traditions, specializing in Bantu and Vissungo origins. He's the founder of the Lamparina Cultural Center in Bela Horizonte and has authored the book "Capoeiragem no País das Gerais". Negoativo is known for his deep passion for capoeira and the berimbau, dedicating himself to preserving and teaching the rhythms and techniques of great masters like Waldemar, Gato Preto, Canjiquinha, and Traira.
As a musician, Mestre Negoativo has released several albums and singles, including recent tracks like "Babacundê", "Semeei Semente", and "Angola". He's also known for his educational work, offering both in-person and online classes, and continues to research the Berimbau de Barriga, its historical processes, and the evolution of African-based musicality into the 21st century.
