These Arms Are Snakes

These Arms Are Snakes was an American post-hardcore band formed in 2002 in Seattle, Washington. Noted for their intense, often chaotic musical style and impassioned lyrics, they quickly rose to prominence in the post-hardcore scene with their aggressive blend of punk, hardcore, and indie rock influences. The band consisted of Steve Snere on the vocals, formerly of the band Kill Sadie, Ryan Frederiksen on guitar, Brian Cook on bass, and Chris Common on drums, each contributing to the unique sound and visceral energy that defined their music.

During their active years, These Arms Are Snakes released a series of critically acclaimed albums beginning with their debut EP, "This Is Meant To Hurt You," in 2003, which set the stage for their dynamic and abrasive sound. In subsequent years, their full-length albums, including "Oxeneers or The Lion Sleeps When Its Antelope Go Home" (2004), followed by "Easter" (2006) and "Tail Swallower and Dove" (2008), showcased the band's evolution with intricate guitar work, fervent vocal delivery, and complex rhythms. Despite their growing fan base and positive critical reception, the band decided to part ways in 2010, leaving behind a legacy that continues to influence the post-hardcore and experimental rock genres. Their posthumous compilation "Duct Tape & Shivering Crows," featuring rare and unreleased tracks, serves as a testament to the impact and creativity of These Arms Are Snakes.
