**Regin Dahl** (1918–2007) was a Faroese composer, poet, and translator known for blending modernist poetry with folk-inspired melodies. Born into a creative family—his father was a translator, and his grandfather a musician—Dahl spent much of his life in Denmark but remained deeply connected to Faroese culture. He composed around 450 works, including settings for Swedish poet Erik Axel Karlfeldt’s verses, though he initially lacked formal musical training, mentally composing pieces before performing them.
In the 1990s, musicologist Marianne Clausen transcribed his vast repertoire into the *Atlantsløg* collections, which include tracks referencing poets like Jákup Dahl, Mikkjal á Ryggi, and his own writings. Honored in 1998 with the Faroese Cultural Prize, Dahl’s legacy endures as a bridge between Faroese traditions and modernist expression.
