Allo Darlin’ was a London-based indie pop band known for their upbeat, heartfelt songs and jangly, melodic sound. Fronted by Australian-born singer and songwriter Elizabeth Morris, the band began as her solo project before expanding into a full group with guitarist Paul Rains, drummer Michael Collins, and bassist Bill Botting. Their music combined witty, observational lyrics with infectious pop melodies, drawing comparisons to acts like Belle and Sebastian and The Magnetic Fields.
The band released their critically acclaimed self-titled debut album in 2010 through the influential indie label Fortuna Pop!, followed by the albums Europe (2012) and We Come from the Same Place (2014). Tracks like “Dreaming,” “Capricornia,” and “Tricky Questions” showcased their knack for writing nostalgic yet fresh tunes with a lot of heart. Though they announced a hiatus in 2016, Allo Darlin’ remains a beloved name in the indie pop scene, celebrated for their literate lyrics and joyful live performances.
