Brainticket

Brainticket is an experimental rock band that has carved out a distinctive niche in the canon of progressive and psychedelic music since their inception in the early 1970s. Formed by Belgian musician Joel Vandroogenbroeck, the ensemble quickly became known for their avant-garde compositions and early use of electronic instrumentation, which contributed to the then-burgeoning krautrock scene. They gained notoriety for their debut album, "Cottonwoodhill," released in 1971, a project that drew both fascination and controversy due to its intense, trance-inducing sounds and warnings to listeners about its potentially mind-altering effects.

Over the years, Brainticket evolved through various lineups and stylistic shifts, never shying away from ambitious concepts and musical exploration. Albums such as "Psychonaut" and "Celestial Ocean" reflect the band's interest in themes of inner space and cosmic journeys, delivering a blend of synthesizer landscapes, psychedelic guitar work, and complex rhythms that secured their legacy within the progressive music scene. Despite periods of inactivity, Brainticket has enjoyed something of a cult following, with reissues and live recordings, like "Zürich / Lausanne (Live)" and "The Vintage Anthology 1971-1980," keeping their spirit alive for new generations of listeners. Their continued influence is evidenced by the interest in remasters and deluxe editions of their seminal works, ensuring their place in the annals of experimental and progressive music.
