TKZEE

TKZee is a South African kwaito music group that stormed onto the scene in the mid-1990s, captivating fans with their infectious beats and urban township narratives. The group consists of three members: Tokollo Tshabalala, Kabelo Mabalane, and Zwai Bala, each bringing their own unique flavor to the trio's dynamic chemistry. Hailing from Johannesburg, they played a significant role in transforming the soundscape of South African urban music, intertwining influences from hip-hop, house, and African rhythms to evolve the kwaito genre.

Their career took off with hallmark releases such as "Phalafala" and the soccer-inspired hit "Shibobo," which dropped in 1998 and featured the famed South African footballer, Benni McCarthy. The group continued to garner success with albums like "Halloween" (1995) and "Guz 2001" (2001), establishing themselves not just as chart-toppers but as cultural icons of the South African music scene. Their album "Trinity," which came out in 2002, marked their continuous innovation within the kwaito genre. Even though the group experienced a period of hiatus, their occasional releases and the compilation album "Guz Hits," which includes many of their classics, have ensured their legacy endures in South Africa's ever-evolving music landscape. By blending infectious rhythms with thoughtful and often cheeky lyrics, TKZee has cemented their place as kwaito legends, inspiring a new generation of artists.
