George Dalaras

George Dalaras, born on 29 September 1949 in Piraeus, Greece, is a revered Greek singer of international acclaim, often credited with rejuvenating and promoting Greek music both within his home country and abroad. His musical journey began under the tutelage of his father, Loukas Daralas, a respected ‘bouzouki’ player, which exposed George to the world of music at a young age. Dalaras' distinctive voice and his ability to blend Greek folk, rembetiko, and laiko music with contemporary sounds have made him a household name in Greece and have garnered a devoted following across the globe.

Dalaras has had a prolific career, contributing to more than 80 personal albums and participating in recordings for numerous other artists. His passion for political and social issues is often reflected in his music, which has become an integral part of his identity as an artist. He is known for his dynamic performances and his ability to connect with audiences, as demonstrated in live albums like "Ta Mousika Genethlia – Duets (Live)". His influence has extended beyond music, as Dalaras has also been an active humanitarian, working with organizations such as Amnesty International. His recent works, such as "Megales Ores I - Tis Siopis O Topos", and "Dakri", continue to solidify his status as a pillar of Greek musical tradition while exploring new artistic territories.
