Lenny Kaye

Lenny Kaye is a guitarist, writer, and music historian best known for his longtime collaboration with punk poet legend Patti Smith. As the guitarist for the Patti Smith Group, his raw, expressive playing helped define the band's sound on records like "Horses," widely regarded as one of the most influential albums in rock history. Beyond his work with Smith, Kaye has worn many hats in the music world—producing albums, curating compilations, and penning music journalism.

In the early 1970s, Kaye compiled the groundbreaking "Nuggets" compilation—a collection of American garage rock from the 1960s—which played a major role in shaping punk rock's aesthetic and ethos. A passionate lover and historian of rock music, he's also authored several books, including "You Call It Madness: The Sensuous Song of the Croon" and co-authored Waylon Jennings’ autobiography.
