UNIQ is a South Korean-Chinese boy band formed by Yuehua Entertainment in 2014. The group consists of five members: Zhou Yixuan, Kim Sung-joo, Li Wenhan, Cho Seung-youn, and Wang Yibo. They debuted on October 20, 2014, with the single "Falling in Love," showcasing a unique blend of cultural influences from both countries. Their early success included involvement in soundtracks for international films and the release of their first mini-album "EOEO" in 2015, which featured the title track "EOEO" and "Luv Again." UNIQ expanded their reach into Japan and achieved multiple wins on the Global Chinese Music Chart. However, the group's activities slowed down as members pursued individual projects, leading to an unofficial hiatus by 2018.
Despite the hiatus, UNIQ never formally disbanded, leaving fans hopeful for a reunion. The group's legacy continues to inspire, reflecting the complexities of managing a dual-cultural pop group in a rapidly changing industry. Their music and performances have left a lasting impact on the Asian pop landscape, with a dedicated fan base known as UNICORN.
