Royal Flanders Philharmonic Orchestra

The Royal Flanders Philharmonic Orchestra, also known as deFilharmonie, is a Belgian symphony orchestra based in Antwerp. Founded in 1955, the orchestra has undergone several name changes over the years, reflecting its evolving identity and status. It performs in various venues across Belgium, including the Queen Elisabeth Hall in Antwerp, which serves as its principal concert venue. The orchestra has worked with renowned conductors like Philippe Herreweghe, who served as chief conductor from 1998 to 2002, and Edo de Waart, who held the position from 2011 to 2016. In 2017, the orchestra rebranded itself as the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, continuing its legacy of bringing high-quality classical music to audiences in Belgium and beyond.
