Made up of Butterfly (Ishmael Butler), Ladybug Mecca (Mary Ann Vieira), and Doodlebug (Craig Irving), this group hit it big with their debut album "Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space)" in 1993, which featured the Grammy-winning single "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)." Their sound blended smooth jazz samples with laid-back, conscious lyrics, creating a unique groove that resonated deeply with fans.

Their follow-up album, "Blowout Comb," continued to push musical boundaries, offering a darker, more politically charged sound. Although the group eventually went on a long hiatus, they thrilled fans by reuniting for live performances, encapsulated in their release "Digable Planets Live." Their innovative fusion of jazz and hip-hop still influences many artists today, and their legacy remains cool like dat.
