Abigayle Oakley is an indie folk singer-songwriter and poet originally from Las Vegas, now based in Nashville. Raised in a musical family, she began writing songs as a teenager and later moved to Nashville to study songwriting at Belmont University. Her music blends the melodic richness of folk traditions with candid, confessional lyrics exploring life's complexities and existential questions, often sprinkled with wit and humor. She released her debut EP “Vegas” in 2022, followed by her debut album “Recovering Optimist” in 2023, with a third record expected in 2025. Abigayle has toured extensively in the US and Canada, opening for artists like The War and Treaty and Jed and The Valentine, and made her Bluebird Cafe debut in 2024.
Beyond performing, Abigayle is involved in songwriting projects with nonprofits that connect music with veterans and hospitalized children. Her songs have been recorded by several Nashville artists, reflecting her respected position in the city’s storytelling-driven indie folk scene. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Ed Sheeran, Sara Bareilles, and Joni Mitchell, Abigayle’s sound is described as “existential indie folk,” characterized by thoughtful, poetic lyrics and layered acoustic and indie arrangements. When not on stage or in the studio, she enjoys hiking the Tennessee hills, finding inspiration in nature for her deeply personal music.
