Kaabi Kouyaté

Kaabi Kouyaté is a talented Guinean musician and multi-instrumentalist hailing from a celebrated family of griots, traditional West African storytellers and musicians. Born in 1965 in Conakry, Guinea, he carries on the legacy of his father, the late Sory Kandia Kouyaté, blending the rich Mandingo griot vocal tradition with contemporary sounds to create a unique Jazz-Mandingue style. With a career spanning over four decades, Kaabi has performed with jazz legends and cemented his reputation as a charismatic performer and cultural ambassador, known for enchanting audiences around the world with his voice and compositions.

Alongside his music career, Kaabi Kouyaté has also contributed to stage plays and film soundtracks, including an award-winning documentary telling his father's story. His recent works such as "Tribute to Kandia," "Fangni Sembe," and "Djon-Dagna" showcase his ongoing dedication to marrying the past with the present, innovating within the tradition of Mandingo music while reflecting on future horizons.
