Santa Esmeralda was a French disco group formed in 1977 by Nicolas Skorsky and Jean-Manuel de Scarano. The group is best known for their 1977 hit single "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood," a cover of the 1965 song by The Animals. The song was a major hit in Europe and the United States, and it helped to popularize disco music around the world. Santa Esmeralda released several other albums and singles throughout the 1970s and 1980s, but they never achieved the same level of success as "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood." The group disbanded in 1985, but their music continues to be popular today.
