Bjørn Riis

Bjørn Riis is a Norwegian musician, songwriter, and producer widely recognized as one of the leading forces in the Scandinavian progressive rock scene. He is best known as the co-founder, lead guitarist, and vocalist for the band Airbag, which was formed in the late 1990s. With Airbag, Riis has crafted a distinctive sonic identity that merges atmospheric guitar work with lush, cinematic compositions, echoing the influences of Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree while maintaining a unique voice within the genre.

Outside of his work with Airbag, Bjørn Riis has also carved out a solo career, showcasing his personal artistic vision and deep connection with the guitar as an expressive instrument. His discography includes albums such as "Lullabies in a Car Crash" (2014) and "Forever Comes to an End" (2017). Each solo release sees Riis delving deeper into emotional landscapes, exploring themes of loss, longing, and introspection, all while displaying his virtuosic guitar playing and evocative songwriting. His most recent solo works, like "A Storm is Coming" and "Everything to Everyone", continue to earn him acclaim for his progressive approach and dedication to pushing the boundaries of the genre.
