Tripes

Tripes (or "Τρύπες" in Greek, which translates to "Holes") is a defining rock band in the Greek music scene, having left an indelible mark on the industry and generations of music lovers. Founded in Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1983, they rapidly rose to prominence with their distinctive sound—a blend of rock, punk, and Greek musical sensibilities—paired with profound, poetic lyrics which often delved into existential despair, social commentary, and personal angst. Fronted by the late Giannis Aggelakas, whose gravelly voice became the band's signature, Tripes enjoyed a celebrated career that concluded in 2001, when the group disbanded.

Over their illustrious career, Tripes released several critically acclaimed albums and tracks that are considered classics in Greece's rock music history. Their discography reflects artistic growth and engagement with both the personal and the political, as seen in albums such as "Ena Taxidi Pou Pote Den Telioni 1985 - 2000," a reflective compilation looking back on the band's journey. "Mesa Sti Nihta Ton Allon" highlights their darker, moodier side, while "Kefali Gemato Hrisafi" showcases their ability to rock through thought-provoking themes and riffs. Their energy on stage is immortalized in "Krata To Show Maimou (Live)", capturing the raw and unfiltered essence of their live performances. The eponymous album "Tripes" brought more of their iconic sound to a dedicated fan base, further cementing their status as rock legends in Greek music culture. Even after their disbandment, Tripes remains beloved, their music regularly discovered by new audiences, attesting to the enduring legacy they have created.
