In Aeternum

In Aeternum is a Swedish **black/death metal band** from Sandviken that emerged from the underground metal scene in the early '90s. **Led by singer/guitarist David Larsson**, the band was originally formed as Behemoth in 1992, releasing early demos called *Domini Inferi* and *The Ancient Kingdom* before adopting the In Aeternum name and officially forming in 1994. Their sound is characterized by fast, aggressive riffs and lyrics exploring themes of satanism, blasphemy, and the occult. The band's debut album *Forever Blasphemy* arrived in 1999 after years of underground circulation, followed by *The Pestilent Plague* in 2000, establishing them as part of Sweden's prolific extreme metal movement.

The band's history has been marked by creative evolution and extended hiatuses. After releasing several albums including *Nuclear Armageddon* (2003) and *Dawn of a New Aeon* (2005), In Aeternum essentially went dormant around 2005 due to internal tensions and Larsson's frustration with the music industry. The band returned to activity in 2015 after a seven-year break when Larsson rekindled his passion for playing music. They've since released *The Blasphemy Returns* EP in 2016 and most recently *...of Death and Fire* in February 2026, proving the old-school Swedish death/black metal purveyors still have plenty of blasphemous fuel left in the tank.
