The Wallflowers

The Wallflowers are an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1989 by singer-songwriter Jakob Dylan, who is the son of legendary musician Bob Dylan. Initially gaining momentum in the 1990s, the group's brand of heartland rock resonated with fans looking for a continuation of the storytelling and roots-rock aesthetic championed by classic American rock artists. The Wallflowers' 1996 album "Bringing Down the Horse," which included hits such as "One Headlight" and "6th Avenue Heartache," catapulted them to widespread acclaim and won them several Grammy Awards.

Over the years, The Wallflowers experienced fluctuations in their lineup but remained anchored by Jakob Dylan's thoughtful lyricism and vocals. With a string of releases highlighting their staying power and ability to evolve, the band's discography continued to expand into the 21st century. In 2021, they released "Exit Wounds," a critically lauded addition to their canon that bears the hallmarks of their traditional sound while exploring new narratives and musical landscapes. Their longevity is marked by an adherence to classic rock sensibilities while also incorporating elements inspired by contemporaries and evolving trends within the genre. With albums like "Rebel, Sweetheart" and "Red Letter Days," the band has cemented its status as a staple of American rock, admired for both their roots and their willingness to explore new artistic directions.
