EGOIST

EGOIST is a Japanese pop music duo that began as a fictional band in the anime series "Guilty Crown." The group was created by supercell's Ryo, who specifically composed the music with the fictional premise in mind before it was launched into the real world due to the immense popularity of its songs. The band debuted in 2011 with vocalist Chelly, who was chosen by Ryo through an audition of about 2,000 candidates. Chelly’s voice brought the imaginary singer Inori Yuzuriha from "Guilty Crown" to life, and as EGOIST, she continued to captivate audiences with her strong, emotive performances.

Originally a virtual band, EGOIST quickly expanded its presence into the real world of J-pop and anime music. Their sound is characterized by a blend of dramatic arrangements, potent vocals, and a futuristic tone that aligns with many of the animated works they contribute to. EGOIST has successfully created a niche for themselves within the anime community with hits like "KABANERI OF THE IRON FORTRESS," the powerful "英雄 運命の詩," and the emotionally charged "Ghost of a smile." Their music often accompanies high-stakes narratives and has become a staple in anime series and films, creating an expansive fanbase that reaches far beyond Japan’s borders. Despite their virtual beginnings, EGOIST's influence in the music and anime industry is very real—a testament to the group's unique origins and the incredible talent of their creators and vocalist.
