Santidev Ghosh was an Indian singer, actor, dancer, and author who specialized in Rabindra Sangeet - the songs of Rabindranath Tagore. Born in 1910 in what is now Bangladesh, Ghosh was personally selected by Tagore as a teenager to teach music at Santiniketan, Tagore's experimental school. He went on to become a professor and head of the Department of Rabindra Music and Dance at Visva-Bharati University.
Throughout his long career, Ghosh was known for his mastery of Tagore's musical works and received numerous awards, including the Padma Bhushan from the Indian government. He authored several books on Indian music and dance, particularly focusing on Tagore's artistic vision. Ghosh passed away in 1999, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most respected exponents of Rabindra Sangeet.
