Porcelain Raft is the dream-pop solo project of Italian-born singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mauro Remiddi. Remiddi's music journey began long before he adopted the Porcelain Raft moniker, with his involvement in several bands and musical projects, but it was not until he moved to London and later to New York that Porcelain Raft started to form its distinctive sound – a blend of ethereal vocals, introspective lyrics, and layered synth-based melodies. Porcelain Raft’s sound is characterized by a hauntingly melodic, lo-fi aesthetic that often evokes a sense of nostalgia and emotional introspection.
The project first gained significant attention with the release of "Strange Weekend" in 2012, which was recorded in a Brooklyn basement and captured the imaginations of both critics and fans with its intimate, bedroom-pop sensibilities. Following "Strange Weekend," Remiddi released a series of records such as "Permanent Signal" (2013) and "Microclimate" (2017), with each album pushing the boundaries of his sound, incorporating more polished production while maintaining the raw emotionality that defines Porcelain Raft. His more recent work, like the "Half Awake EP," exhibits a constant evolution and a refining of his unique meld of indie and dream-pop elements, solidifying Porcelain Raft's reputation as a purveyor of thoughtful and emotive music landscapes.
