Earth & Fire

Earth & Fire was a prominent Dutch progressive and symphonic rock band, renowned for their inventive musicality and the enchanting vocals of Jerney Kaagman. They were established in the late 1960s by the twin brothers Chris and Gerard Koerts in The Hague, Netherlands. The band's unique blend of rock, pop, and jazz, with touches of classical music, quickly garnered them a loyal following in the Dutch music scene. Their eponymous debut album "Earth & Fire," released in 1970, featured the single "Ruby Is The One," which became a considerable success and laid the foundation for their subsequent acclaim in continental Europe.

Their music evolved over time, as seen in later albums such as "Song Of The Marching Children" and "Atlantis," which showcased a profound storytelling ability, creating intricate rock suites with mythological and fantastical themes. By the mid-70s, Earth & Fire had delved into more accessible and pop-oriented sounds with hit albums like "To The World Of The Future" and "Gate To Infinity," from which tracks like "Thanks For The Love" and "Only Time Will Tell" demonstrated their versatility. Despite the changes in the musical climate and various line-up changes, the band managed to stay relevant, ending their classic period with the adventurously styled "Andromeda Girl" and "Reality Fills Fantasy," with the former marking the end of their theatrical and epic compositions. Earth & Fire's unique contributions in the ’70s rock panorama cemented their status as a significant force in the European progressive and psychedelic rock movement.
