La Gossa Sorda

La Gossa Sorda was a Catalan rock band known for their energetic fusion of punk rock, ska, and reggae, infused with politically and socially charged lyrics. Formed in the late 1990s, in Pego, a town in the Alicante province of Spain, the band consisted of Josép Nadal on lead vocals, Salvador Guardiola 'Salva' on guitar, Jaume De La Fuente 'Xaume' on bass, Rafel Escrivà on keyboard, Pere Joan Martorell on drums, and Carlos Vila on trumpet. Their music was characterized by a distinctive blend of traditional Valencian sounds and contemporary rock elements, making them a strong voice for the local music scene.

Over the years, La Gossa Sorda gained popularity not just in their home region but also across Spain and other Catalan-speaking areas. They released several albums, including "Saó" (2004), "L'Últim Heretge" (2008), and "La Polseguera" (2014), which showcased their evolution and maturation as a band. Their songs often revolved around issues of identity, resistance, and celebration of culture, resonating deeply with their audience. Although La Gossa Sorda announced their disbandment in 2015, after around seventeen years of career, their music continues to be celebrated by fans, particularly through live recordings like "L'Última Volta en Concert (Live)" that capture the raw intensity of their performances. Their final work serves as a testament to their impact on the Valencian and Spanish music scenes, as well as their role in promoting the Catalan language through music.
