Julie Yuqing Ye is a classical pianist based in Oslo, Norway, known for her dynamic presence as both a soloist and chamber musician. Born in Germany and raised in Norway, she started playing piano at age four and quickly stood out, joining the Young Talents program at the Barratt Due Music Institute by age eight. Julie has performed at prestigious venues such as the Norwegian Opera and Ballet, Oslo Concert Hall, Wigmore Hall in London, and the Edvard Grieg Museum, and has taken part in major festivals including the Oslo Chamber Music Festival and Beijing International Music Festival and Academy. She’s also made TV appearances, collaborating with renowned Norwegian pianist Leif Ove Andsnes and performing with orchestras like the Norwegian Radio Orchestra.
After earning her Artist Diploma from the Norwegian Academy of Music and earlier degrees from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, Julie has focused on bringing classical music to new audiences through children’s concerts, care home tours, and cross-art projects. Her latest recordings showcase a passion for lesser-known repertoire, including piano sonatas by Pauline Hall and Geirr Tveitt, and she’s recently released albums like Vegom (2025) and From the Archives: Hall, Tveitt, Grieg (2024), as well as singles such as Aate I. Julie’s work reflects both her technical depth and her commitment to expanding the classical music experience beyond traditional concert halls.
