Rick Wakeman

Richard Christopher Wakeman, born May 18, 1949, in Perivale, London, is widely recognized as one of the most gifted and prominent keyboardists in progressive rock history. His career, which spans more than five decades, has seen him become not only a celebrated solo artist but also a key member of the pioneering progressive rock band Yes. Wakeman's virtuosic flair on the keys combined with his penchant for theatrical flair and concept albums has solidified his legendary status.

Wakeman gained early notoriety as a session musician before reaching international fame with Yes in the early 1970s. His solo works, beginning with 'The Six Wives of Henry VIII' (1973), displayed his ambitious, classically influenced style, and his discography has grown to encompass an eclectic range of musical genres. Among his wide catalog are soundtracks, like "Lawrence: After Arabia," robust live albums such as "Tokyo Japan 2008 - Live," and themed works, including "The Red Planet" and “Christmas Variations (Deluxe Edition).” His release "A Gallery of the Imagination" attests to his unceasing creative drive, showcasing his mastery in crafting intricate soundscapes. Despite the evolution of musical trends, Wakeman's dexterity and deep musicality remain in high demand, as he continues to create, perform, and inspire with his elaborate keyboard harmonies and compositions.
