The Baseball Project

The Baseball Project is a supergroup formed by notable indie rock veterans with a shared passion for America’s pastime—baseball. The band includes Steve Wynn (The Dream Syndicate), Scott McCaughey (Young Fresh Fellows, R.E.M.), Peter Buck (R.E.M.), Linda Pitmon, and Mike Mills (also of R.E.M.). Known for their clever and affectionate songwriting, The Baseball Project combines guitar-driven rock with lyrics that pay tribute to legendary players, quirky stats, and unforgettable moments from the sport’s storied history.

Since their debut in 2008 with Vol. 1: Frozen Ropes and Dying Quails, The Baseball Project has built a unique catalog of baseball-themed tunes, balancing humor, nostalgia, and sharp musicianship. Their follow-up albums—Volume 2: High and Inside, 3rd, and Grand Salami Time!—continue the tradition, offering tracks dedicated to figures like Shohei Ohtani (“Oh Oh Ohtani!”) and exploring the ups and downs of life on and off the field. Whether you're a diehard baseball fan or just into great alternative rock, The Baseball Project offers a fun and thoughtful intersection of sport and song.
